FLOATING
TIMBER FLOORS
What Is A Floating Timber
Floor?
The term floating timber floor relates to a timber floor that is not
directly stuck to the subfloor. Floating floors are glued together along the
four tongue and groove and when knocked together, float as an interlocked sheet
across the floor. The fact that Readyflor is not vertically adhered to the
subfloor during the installation process gives it significant advantages over
other timber flooring options like traditional floorboards or parquetry.
Easy
to Install, Maintain & Repair
Most floating floors are easy to install, easy to keep clean and maintain
and easy to moderately easy to repair, should a board become damaged. In many
cases, you can even replace a damaged board in the middle of a floor without
disturbing adjoining boards!
What Questions Should I Ask When
Purchasing?
When looking at purchasing a floating timber floor, you really need to look at
the full package of benefits that each brand offers. As it is with many products
the cheapest product will often mean the poorest quality. Considering most
people purchase a floating floor expecting many years of reliable service and a
product whose appearance will enhance the value of their property, the cheapest
products are thankfully not all that popular. Some criteria that you should use
to evaluate different floating timber floors might include:
The number of coats and more particularly the type of coating used, is important when comparing floating floors. After all, it is the coating that provides your floor's resistance to wear. Readyflor is pre-finished with six coats of Armourcote.
